Whatever you want to see other people doing, the real change starts with you.
So one of the things that is very characteristic of the six percenters is that six percenters are amazing at recruiting other people to work with them instead of against them because you can’t do it alone.
Every little kitten wants to feel like a lion. We all want to feel that we matter, but we live in a world where we feel that we are not seen. Everybody’s just too busy on their phone doing something else at the same time. You talk to them, they’re doing something else at the same time.
You have no idea how many team meetings I observed where I see somebody called for a meeting. There are multiple screens doing something else at the same time. What are you actually telling someone when you do something else at the same time? I know that you know.
You tell them, listen, you don’t matter to me so much. So to make my time more valuable, I’m gonna do something else at the same time. And then people come and say, we don’t know, Michelle, we don’t know. We have a problem with engagement. These people are not going the extra mile for me. Meanwhile, you were communicating to someone else that they’re not really important to you.
